Question:

Is there a thin line?

The UK Government are devils if they do and devils if they don't. I talking about the amount of information they collect from their citizens or give to them.

The DNA register for people already arrested for crimes maybe OK , that's a good thing , but how about having a national register for everyone , irrespective of whether you are innocent of any crime. The Government has to keep a balance between being a 'Nanny State' and a 'Police State' , tip this balance and they might be in trouble. Not just this Government but any future Government. So far they have done a pretty good job in balancing the status quo.

  1. How very strange as this is what is happening in America. I don't care to give up my DNA as I'm not a criminal and don't think I'm going to use it to check where my family is from. It's mine and I say NO...I choose to keep it thank you very much. Files use to be kept on people years ago for what ever reasons, I guess these days it's your DNA.. God Bless All of US.

  2. I would not trust this or any other British government with last nights Liverpool Echo. I would have done once but the Blair gang has put paid to that

  3. Should not DNA be kept in or alongside a criminal record

if you don't have a record you don't have your DNA on file,

if DNA is left at a crime scene, the police can establish if they have its match on file an either eliminate or match their criminal records list. this will at least cut out some of the suspects, and point them in the right direction.

  4. There is a thin line and what that line does will amaze us.

  5. DNA should only be collected from persons arrested for a crime. I saw this on the news here in the U.S. as well, and it didn't make me jump up and down for joy! :(

  6. Many crimes can be solved with DNA testing.

But I agree that collecting DNA from the Population to build a DNA Bank is very questionable.even more if it would be under the Government control.

Manipulation of DNA coding information can be very damaging on the wrong hands.
