  1. You must receive notification no later than 21 days starting with the day of the offence. If notification arrives 22 days after the offence then it is not valid. Remember that this notification is sent to the registered keeper of the vehicle, to confirm whom was driving the vehicle at the time of the offence.

  2. The Police have to post a Notice of Intended Prosecution to the registered keeper of the car within 14 days of the alleged offence. If they did that they have complied with the relevant time limit, otherwise the prosecution should be quashed.

  3. The police have 14 days to serve what is known as a notice of intended prosecution (NIP) on the keeper of the vehicle from the date of the offence.

If your boyfriend isnt the keeper due to it being a hire vehicle, works vehicle etc then the '14 day rule' doesnt apply.

  4. there is, but if he wasnt the owner of the car, then they may have started proceedings within 14 days and the delay was due to the owner telling the police who was driving.

  5. It is 14 days from the date of offence that the NIP should arrive.

  6. I know what you mean this happened to my dad it was 1 month and 1 week on before we got a letter through but this was for jumping a red light. He then had to send off a form and separately send off a cheque or method of payment.

It can't have a 14 day limit as they send it out after 14 days so this is unfair.

  7. i think its supposed to be 14 days after you receive the ticket im afraid! Its a pain coz after a week or so you forget about it!
