Question:

Is there a tracking chip in a NEXUS card?

I was told by someone (who perhaps was pulling my leg) that the NEXUS card used to facilitate Canada/US border crossings contained some sort of chip that allowed Homeland Security to track the card via GPS. He warned me not to go near it. At the risk of asking the world, I was wondering if there was any truth to this. Your comments would be appreciated.

  1. No it does not contain a RFID chip.

The information is stored on a mag stripe, just like on a credit  card..

To use  the card, you have to drive into the NEXUS lane  at the border , swipe your card and speak the inspector via the speaker box.

.Once cleared, drive off.  Like all the car and truck lanes, the NEXUS lane is monitored by CCTV cameras  .
