  1. Check out Amtrak's website, where you can search its available stations directly from the homepage.  Amtrak is also the only long-distance, intercity passenger rail carrier that will reach such distances.

  2. You would have to take BART to Emeryville, than catch Amtrak's "California Zephyr" to Reno.

  3. If you are willing to spend one night (Emeryville, Martinez, Davis or  Sacramento), you can do it all by Amtrak.

Day 1: Capitol Corridor from San Jose to any of the 4 stations listed above.

Day 2:  California Zephyr,   to Reno.

If you want to do it one day, you're best bet is to take BART from Fremont to  Berkeley, then catch a bus or taxi to the Amtrak station in Emeryville and take the Zephyr to Reno.

    Calif Zephyr (eastbound)  Train #6

    Dep Emeryville at 7:10 am

    Arr Reno at 2:11 pm

    www.amtrak.com

    www.bart.org

  4. well you could get yourself to either Oakland or Emeryville

or even Sacramento (on the Capitols then change to the California zephyr for service to Reno

(Amtrak might even have a bus from San Jose that would conect you to the Zephyer)
