  2. There are no 'tube' services outside London and Glasgow in the UK. There is an hourly train, however, from Manchester Piccadilly at 11 minutes past the hour, change Preston which takes 1hr 21 mins and another at 45 minutes past the hour, no change, which takes 59 minutes. A cheap day return will set you back £12.70, a saver return £16.20, a standard day return £16.50 and a standard open return £19.

  3. You can check the journy time on National Rail website. This will give you live tims of trains and also the fares. Type National Rail int Google or Yahoo and off you go.
