  1. You are probably referring to what is called "orthokeratology".  By fitting a hard gas permeable contact lens in such a manner as to reshape and flatten the curvature of the eye, you can achieve TEMPORARY improvement in vision.  It is similar to the concept of wearing braces on your teeth.  Even though the braces change the postition of your teeth it is temporary and requires wearing retainers to maintain the changes that the braces have caused.  So, I am not a big fan of orthokeratology because it really doesn't decrease your dependence on contacts.  It just means you must wear your contacts at night rather than during the day.  If what you want is independence from contacts, then you should consider LASIK.    And as to your last question -- they do not come in a box.  They are fit as individual lenses that are used over and over.  Because soft contacts tend to conform to the shape of the eye rather than cause the eye to conform to the shape of the contact, soft contacts can't be used in orthokeratology.

  2. Yes, but they are not soft lenses, or bought as boxes of disposable or planned replacement lenses.

They need careful fitting as they are rigid gas permeable lenses deliberately shaped not to match the cornea's existing curvature but to encourage (massage, force...) it to adopt a new one: flatter to reduce or eliminate myopia, while the lens continues to be worn at night.  The effects are not permanent.

Ortho-K is the common term. but there are a varierty of brands, not all available in all countries.

    "Dreamvision"

    "OK lens"

    "Nocturnal"
