as rilifane said, there is a university quite close of Versailles, Saint-Quentin en Yvelines university (offently told SQY, pronounced like "sky" in english).

but it's not a very famous or recognised university.

nontheless in versailles are many famous "classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles" = for ppl who study 2 years in order to go to the "Grandes Ecoles" (it's a parallel system of university, known as the best in france).

so, there are no Grandes Ecoles in Versailles, but many schools preparing to.
