I'm used to vegetarians! But this one lady we've got coming here is a vegan and i've made a roasted vegetable lasagne (red, yellow and green peppers, aubergine (eggplant) courgette(zucchini) red onion and mushrooms. I've mananged to make a white sauce with veg oil, flour and soya milk, but is there anything other than breadcrumbs i can put on top to make it go golden and crispy?

  1. Mmm, that lasagne sounds delicious!

In the U.S., we have a vegan cheese called Follow Your Heart—Vegan Gourmet Cheese Alternative. I would look around at your local health food store to see if they carry vegan cheese.

    Good luck.

  2. Hi yes I was looking at some today but I am too scared to try it (silly I know). They sell it in Holland and Barrett and other food shops in the UK. Good luck the lasagne sounds lovely.

  3. Redwood's Cheezly, if you can get it where you are - they make a number of vegan cheeses which melt - it'll say 'super melting' on the packet, the Cheddars don't melt.

  4. Crispy onions

  5. YES

Vegan Rella is a cheese like substance.

There are also "cheeses that are made of RIce, Soy and Almond. but check the ingredient lists to be sure that they do not contain casein.

  6. cheese flavored tofu????!?!?!? i donno

  7. Yes, there are many options and are usually carried in grocery stores, and many specialty health food stores. It's cheese, only made with soy, and soy dairy products. It tastes the same only without the animal based ingredients.

    Perfect!

  8. you can also get vegan cheese.

  9. theres always veggie slices go to any supermarket in the produce section hope i helped

  10. Yes - but PLEASE don't call it cheese.  Soy does not turn into cheese!

  11. some bacon

  12. There are many vegan cheese options, such as tofuttie, vegan, follow your heart, or teese.

Honestly, none of them are exceptional, and if it were me I would rather just have the lasagna without it. You don't need cheese to make something good.
