Question:

Is there a very remote cemetery in Paris with wide open spaces?

I see that most of the cemeteries in Paris are very tight, like the graves are very close together with very little grass and open space. Is there a cemetery somewhere close to or in Paris that is very open and grassy, and not very well known? Like if you were to go there on a week end no one else would be around?

I know this is kind of a weird question...>w<

  1. I'm guessing you're looking for "US style" cemetaries, which look like parks/gardens.

No such thing in France - even in my grandparents' village the cemetary is tightly packed and cement-y (no pun intended AT ALL)

  2. The one that probably comes as close as what you are looking for is the Cimetière Parisien de Saint-Ouen‎ which is just outside the city of Paris in the adjacent suburb of Saint-Ouen‎.

But there really aren't any cemeteries with "wide open spaces" in the vicinity of Paris.

  3. I would think that you'd need to go to some suburbs at least a half hour from the city for that, or better yet the countryside altogether. The best known cemetery in Paris is of course Père Lachaise, but that hardly qualifies as "open and grassy" or "not very well known" as you probably gathered on your own.
