  1. You can download Open Office http://openoffice.com (the popular MS Office suite clone) for almost any computer system.  Use their Excel clone for making your own personalized spreadsheet.  You will be able to modify the details however you want and whenever you need.  You can even link the file names in your spreadsheet to the actual files on the computer as well as locations you posted them on the net, so they will play when clicked.  An added feature is the ability to add password protection to the database file if necessary.

If you have Final Cut Studio, Media Manager will also do the job for you.

  2. Adobe Premiere and Final Cut both let you capture clips and categorize them.  You can change the name of the clips and make folders for clips that you feel should go together. Adobe is cheaper but its easier to categorize.  Final Cut is more expensive because its meant for professinal filmmakers.

  3. It's not specifically a video program, but Media Center allows you to categorize all your media.

  4. Though I am not positive on this, I believe iMovie does. I'm not sure about programs for PCs. If all else fails, I generally categorize files/photos/clips just on my own through folders. Have a giant umbrella folder "Video Clips" then maybe subfolders "Bobby," "Susan," "Jim," etc. Then inside each of those another folder with the year. Or maybe (examples) Video Clips > 2008 > Johnny > Bar Mitzfah. It may be a bit tedious, but its a great way to keep things organized.

    Hope this helps!
