Is there a virtual chalkboard ?

Question

Is there a device out there that will allow the teacher to lecture on a digital pad (about the size of normal sheet of paper), and then transmitted in real time to a student watching online ?

If there is such a device please let me know. If not, then perhaps I can design one.

There are free online whiteboard programs where you can share what you write or draw in real-time. All you and your student need is an Internet connection.

There are a few things like that:

Some teachers use tablet PCs to draw and write, it's sent through a projector and onto a screen for the people present, the teacher can use a screencasting software to send it over the web.

The other option is a Smartboard, which is basically a bigger, more complicated version of the above.
