Question:

Is there a waterproof paint to use on actual shower walls?

When I had to get a new tub the wall which was never tiled but some sort of material used got damaged. It had to be replaced and I couldn't afford to tile it so the plumber used something he called wallboard and said that it was waterproof which it was on the side inside the shower. Developed a leak in the wall but didn't know it until a huge stain started to spread on the board. I then found out that since the leak was behind the wall that part was not waterproof. I paid a good bit of money for this work but when I contacted the plumber he refused to remove and replace it. I still can't afford to tile it but would like to know if there is any paint that would be waterproof as to water constantly hitting it when the shower is on? I hope someone can help me because my shower looks so terrible with these stains all over the walls.

  1. I'm pretty sure that any paint with a "high gloss" (it should say that on the label) should be pretty water-resistant. You may have to repaint every other year (this is not a professional opinion!), but I've got a toddler who likes to draw on the walls and have had to experiment with several paints of varying glosses before I found one that lets me wash off these masterpieces without leaving water-stains. At Home Depot or Menards, ask one of the paint specialist people -- but maybe try any high gloss paint that could go in a kid's room -- It'll more likely be able to withstand more damage (being kid-tested and all ^.^)

    Good luck!
