I have a preinstalled version of Vista on my new laptop, therefore a legal copy with a key. A recovery disk was included, however, it includes all the crapware, which defeats the purpose of why I want to reinstall Vista. Is there a way I can download an iso from Microsoft?

I checked with vista site (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/default.aspx), but have not found anything. Do not have a msdn or technet subscription, and my college is too cheap to give me one... :(

I personally am not a fan of pirating the OS, smaller software sure...but OS is too critical.

  1. I applaud your view on pirating software and hope that someday you will apply that view to smaller software as well.

As far as I know the short answer to your question is: No...

Microsoft is not well know for their support and especially not for their eagerness to do anything out of the ordinary.

The only option will be to pay a fee (I do not know the cost, but know it can be done) to get a full installation disk. They see this as an upgrade on your existing licensed version and will supply at a cheaper rate.
