Question:

Is there a way I can take my essential oils with me on the plane knowing that liquids aren't allowed on board?

I don't want to keep them in my luggage because exposing them to the scanner will probably make make them lose their therapeutic properties... sigh sigh sigh

  1. Mail them to yourself where ever you are going.

  2. The best thing to do is call the airport and ask.  I would  NOT try to "sneak" them on..

  3. ummmm well i thought you could bring them as long as their in a ziplock bag.

  4. They don't scan non carry ons.  Pack them in the larger luggage.

I always take a smaller container for my supplements I will take during my travel in my purse or carry on so that its small enough to not matter to them.

I don't care about the scan.  That is just the way it is and I take them anyway in the cabin when they come with refreshments to arrival and meal time with my family who greets me at the airport.

  5. No. Most people rebuy stuff when they get to destination.

  6. Firstly, check permitted volume of liquids on your airline- I'd be amazed if your essential oils reached that, unless you are setting yourself up in business with them.

Second I don't believe that the very potent properties of essential oils could be damaged by scanning machines.  They spend a very short time in the machine anyway.

Potential creative solution number 1:  soak up all the oil into small natural sponges and take the saturated sponges on board.

Potential solution Number 2: work out which you're likely to need and put some onto cotton wool balls which you then store in little jars and use as needed.  This is what we do in our travelling first aid kit.

  7. probably not

  8. yes, keep them in a small carry-on luggage, and before you go to scan it, ask the officer if he can personally check it because it is sensitive to the x-rays. they might be jerks and say that it hasn't been proven that the x-rays do any damage at all, etc. but be nice, and make sure that they are under 3 oz. and you have to put them in a clear bottle, not the dark-colored ones they are sold in.

  9. You are allowed to take a certain amount of liquids in your carry-on. Check with the specific airline you are flying with to find out their regulations.

    Otherwise, mail them.

  10. YES  You can bring liquid in bottles of 3 oz or less.  You have to have them in a quart baggie to declare them.  You cannot have more than that baggie can hold.  Anything found not in the baggie in carry-on will be thrown away..even mascara which I learned the hard way...

  11. I would ship them in advance to where you are going.
