Question:

Is there a way I can transfer a DVD to my iPod?

I want to get some movies and TV show episodes onto my iPod. I have the DVD ready to go and everything. I have an iPod Classic with around 73GB of memory. I have iTunes and all.

HOWEVER:

* I don't want to download any new programs just so I can do this. You can transfer a CD, why not a DVD?

* I don't want to get a program that costs money or download a dodgy program from a website. (including Limewire or stuff like that.) Nothing that has the risk of getting a virus.

* I have the DVD, the computer and an iPod. Isn't there a simple copy & paste process???

  1. You need a dvd to ipod converter to transform DVD to ipod video formats including MP4, H.264, MP3, AAC, WAV and M4A, so that it can be played on your iPod Classic. 5. Hi,

I'll tell you why the copy and paste process won't work in this case. The video files on the DVD are stored in .vob format (Don't Believe me, open the dvd in my computer and explore it, you'll see .vob, .ifo and .bup files there). The .vob files are the video files and two other format files are information file.

Now iPod doesn't support .vob file and It supports MP4 format. So you need to Rip (or convert) those .vob files into ipod compatible format so that you can play them on ipod.

For this purpose, you would need a dvd ripper like Xilisoft DVD Ripper Ultimate. This DVD Ripper works like charm and supports all models of iPod, iPhone, iRiver, Zune, PSP and almost all other portable devies in the world. Check out the 3 most popular dvd to ipod converters here http://www.dvd-tutorials.com/dvd-ripper-...

I see that you don't want to download a new program but I've explained why copy and past will not work. I'm not suggesting you Limewire and other similar sites. The site I'm suggesting is totally legit and you can download trial version in just a single click.

CD and DVD are two different things. VOB files first need to be converter into iPod format and then you need to transfer the files to iPod using iTunes. Download DVD Ripper from here http://www.dvd-tutorials.com/dvd-ripper-...

After ripping DVD, run iTunes and click on File-->Sync (Make sure that you iPod is already connected to computer) and transfer the songs to iPod.
