  1. Very easy.

Use a large pot and put a stainless steel bowl over the top. I use it for making candles all the time.

I also went to walmart (I hate that place) and bought a small, about 1 quart, metal pot that they had for holding hot leftover grease. It cost me about $6, and that was 3 months ago.

I use it over a low flame and never have problems. But I never leave it unattended.

  2. Take a large tin can that will fit in the largest pot you have, add water to the pot and start heating it to a boil. Add some wax when you start, more wax as it melts and keep adding as you can water and wax. You will need a pair of pliers and a pair of gloves, also full heavy shoes and jeans to avoid burns if you spill any. Have your molds ready before you start the melt.

  3. I don't want to buy/store something I'll use once a year or so but I also like making candies, esp. around the holidays.  I put a smaller pot inside a large one. You just have to make sure that the water doesn't touch the bottom of the one on top. It works exactly the same as a double boiler.
