When a shark sees you, they might try to swim over to you and try to eat you up, is there ANY way to avoid them? Is there also a way NOT to be noticed by sharks?

  1. I have always heard these two things said.

If you are on your period, stay out of the Ocean.

Sharks are also attracked to urine.

Shiny objects, like jewelry should be removed. Looks like bait to a shark.

Look at the Myth Busters link to see what they found out.

  2. Sharks won't normally swim over to eat you...humans aren't a normal part of their diet.  This is why shark attacks are so rare.

If you see a shark , stay calm and don't try to get out of there fast.  A shark can outswim you anyways, and they're attracted to splashing water.  Just slowly move away from it, and don't try to poke it...while they generally don't go after humans, they will attack if you disturb them.

  3. Wear a shark outfit, then they won't bother you.

  4. Really you shouldn't need to worry about them unless you're bleeding. I was swimming in the ocean once, and found out from some people on the peir that a shark had swam right under me. I hadn't even noticed and it hadn't done anything to me.

Shark's don't swim around looking for people. Their main target is porpouses and other large sea creatures. Most of the time when people get bitten or attacked its because they've been mistaken for a Seal or Walrus.

Personally I worry more about Jellyfish, Crabs, and Urchins when I'm in the ocean.

  5. you are much to big for a shark to eat. they are basically scavengers and like to eat food that's easy to catch. as long as you are not bleeding or thrashing around in the water you are pretty safe. if you want to be totally safe, they proved many years ago that sharks will not eat black and white striped fish, so get a black wet suit and paint white stripes on it, the sharks will leave you totally alone

  6. The only way to avoid a shark is to stay out of the water.
