Is there a way for eye dr. to check to make sure lenses are the right perscription?

i just got new glass and the right lense does not seem correct at all. both sides are equal 1.50 and 1.50 i need help seeing stuff far away.

when i flip the glasses upside down the bad lense makes my my vision in the other eye blurry!

are the optomitrist or what ever giong to test my glasses on a machine? if so how acurate is this machine?

  1. The " machine" ...a Lensometer , is very accurate...that's what the whole industry uses to make and verify glasses with.

    Sounds like something is wrong with your glasses alright.

    They should have been checked before they were given to you though.

    Not sure if you are saying they are blurry all the time, or just when you flip them.

    But if you think there is a problem, go back, it should be something simple to find the cause of.


  2. The prescription of your new glasses reflects the information you gave the eye doctor when he or she tested your eyes. When you look through the machine and the doctor changes slides, then asks which lens you see more clearly with, the prescription strength is based on the answers you give. It is hard to tell sometimes, I know.  I'm not always quite sure myself. It's entirely possible, too, that your doctor or the lens lab may have made a mistake with your prescription. The only thing to do is speak with your doctor and see what he or she thinks. Sometimes it's just needing to get used to new lenses.
