Is there a way for me not to be responsible for my wife debts with out being separated.

  1. if she came into the marriage with the debt and you divorce, she will be responsible for them. any debt accrued after you were married, in most states is 1/2 yours also.


  2. Unless you live in a community property State like AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA or WI or your name is on the contracts you are not responsible for your Wifes debt.

    As long as you do not live in one of the above States the only way you can be held responsible for your Wifes debt is if it's joint between you and her like a loan, mortgage or credit card that you both signed the applications and contracts.

    The other poster needs to stick to answering questions about NASCAR because she obviously doe's not know anything about credit.
