one of my friends messed around with the settings on display properties -> settings -> advanced -> adapter, and said that he clicked "stop" and changed the start-up to "automatic". Now, after the windows icon has been up on the screen, just before the welcome screen, my monitor goes blank, but i can still hear the welcome tone playing in the speakers. Anyone want to help me out?

  1. You don't have to do a system restore within windows, you could always just pop in your re-installation disk and perform one from there. That way, you can actually see what you're doing.

  2. Boot into safe mode by pressing F8 then change the settings.
