  1. usually states allow exemptions from certain fees,,especially recreational for persons like 65 and over,,disabled,,retired military,,,etc. Check with them.

  2. If you get pulled over just act like you an illegal emigrant.. they don't have obey any of the rules ..and they will just let you go. .

  3. sersiously, it's $24. you've got to be kidding.

  4. This is just to easy -

If you have a USCG License the state will not require you to have a boaters safety card.....

and you will KNOW all the answers.

Of course you could go to work , earn some money study the material and then take the exam.   Of yeah that's right you are special and do not have to play by the rules.

    Oh Yeah - grow up.

  5. If you use a 10 horsepower or less motor you are not required to have a license. This has got to be the most ignorant thing ohio has ever thought of. Every lake I go to is 10 hp or less so I don't have to worry about it. They should have made the requirement for anyone under a certain age.

  6. if $24 keeps you off the water then you can't afford boating.

move to Texas, no license needed (unless you're 13 - 18 years old and operating a boat w/more than 10hp with no adult on board).

  7. You could get you mom or dad to pay for it.

    Go to :

BTW the answers are in the study material.

Good Luck and Boat Safe, so we all stay safe.

  8. $24 Yikes, I was Bitchin about the $9 Oregon Charges. Better keep my trap shut.

  9. I strongly suggest you show your opposition to this law by waiting until your 17th birthday, and by absolutely refusing to go boating.  I mean, if it is something you feel strongly about, you should stand up for what you believe in - but, you have to make sure you are standing on solid ground...  You can't do this standing up in a boat... lol

By the way, there is a $250.00 fine for getting caught without it...

Tough decision... huh!  $24 now, or $250 later?

And that is only if you get pulled over for no other reason then a license check.  If you get caught as a result of an accident, or breaking a boating safety law, the fine can be in the thousands, and they can take your boat, and your boating priviledges away - forever!

Furthermore  I can almost guarantee you will get caught unless you look and act like you're so responsible you would never dream of not taking the boat safety course and not paying the $24; and if you looked and acted like that, you would have done it already - you wouldn't be asking the question.

Sorry, if I am being a little "curt" but the reality of it is, if you don't want to learn the rules so you can make sure you follow the rules, no one wants you on the water...

Responsibility doesn't come with age... A 7 year old can be responsible just as some 17 and 27 and 37 year olds are not.  It is not even something you have to "learn" - you simply just have to "be".
