My mother lives in another state and she is always calling me asking me questions about her computer. She has Windows XP and I have Windows Vista. Is there any way that I can remotely control her computer? It would make it alot easier for me to troubleshoot her problems.

  1. You need to get her to go to http://www.logmein.com and use the add computer link. Then select the free logmein service. She will need to fill in here email address and create a password. You can then enter the site using her email and the password she created for this, and can then access the machine. Between operations she can right click the logmein icon and disable, then enable it when required, adding some extra measure of security to it.

  2. Well first you have to know the name of the computer, when you open up Remote desktop, it will tell you type the name of the computer that you are trying to reach. But since you use windows vista, and your mom uses Windows XP, not sure if it might Work, the way i know is that both computers have to have either windows vista, or XP...but you can give it a try, Just open up remote desktop, and follow the on screen instructions.
