  1. Why in the h**l would you want to do this??

  2. like most safety devices, they are wired in  series and in a normally closed state.if you try to remove one safety you will have to remove all ,witch in this case is also the detector in the door itself that stops the door and returns it back up when it hits something coming down

  3. If you are talking about the sensors that you mount on each side of the door to keep the door from crushing someone then yes there is.

Take both sensors and place them on a flat piece of small wood. have them facing each other and touching so the beam can't be broken and tape them to the board and place on top of the garage door opener. You can shorten the wires but I left mine long in case I want to mount them on the door.

  4. Why would you want to make any product or piece of equipment in your home LESS safe?

When an electrical product is designed, it is done with certain safety standards in mind; the Consumer Product Safety Commission has a lot of input into these standards, as does the insurance industry, just to name a couple.

Try explaining to your insurance company's Claims Adjuster (and to your neighbor's attorney) why you circumvented a required safety device after little Joe from next door got his throat smashed under your garage door, and died while in route to the hospital.

  5. They're are there for safety, if you remove or mess with them to make them inoperative and the door crushes someone you will be held liable for negligence. I would reconsider bypassing any safety features if I were you.

  6. I mounted mine on the side wall facing eachother about a half inch apart. No more alignment problems.
