Is there a way to add applications to your iPod touch?

I have the 1st gen iPod touch, is there a way say you can add myspace, facebook, espn or any sports page on your main screen like where calender and settings are?

Yes. All you have to do is go to the ipod store in the ipod touch and install the free applications. Facebook is definitely a free application so i guess you can do it.
