I am in the process of researching careers I have never considered before as a possible career change. I am interested in accounting but I just finished graduate school and am in no hurry to go back. Is there a way for a person to go into accounting without a business degree or attending business school? If not, do you know of any alternative education program that offers a fellowship or scholarship to enter an accounting program? Thanks.

  1. I 'fell' into working in accounting for a family run company, and through self-study (there are FREE accounting study sites available on the web) and 3 years of doing accounting work, I learned enough to open my own accounting/bookkeeping business on the side.

I would love to be a CPA but like you, don't want to invest all the time and money in the pursuit.

    Good luck.
