I got a transfer case where I tested it by shifting the shift lever and the 2wd and 4wd seemed to engagethe gaskets seemed to look good. When I installed it the transfer case leaks and when you put torque on it in 4wd there is a lot of noise and clunking. I did a proper shift lever adjustment and had it looked at with final result as noise in transfer case. is there a way to check the case so when I put torque on it it will work and gaskets wont leak before installing it?

  1. you may need to split the transfer case and check the chain for slack and wear on gears and sprockets some chains get so loose that they wear through the case, common on gm vehicles just shiting the selector wont really tell you anything with out visual inspection of internal components.

  2. depends on type of vehical and transfercase
