Is there a way to connect Windows Media Center to my 50" plasma?

I have Windows Media Center Edition on my computer so I can watch TV on my 19" monitor. I just got a new plasma and hate Comcast's DVR, so I was wondering if I could somehow connect my computer to the TV to use WMC. The TV is a Panasonic, if that matters.

  1. There are a number of ways to connect a PC to a TV. One is with an S cable. However, that is only standard definition, so your desktop Will look pretty poor on the TV.

A better way would be with HDMI, DVI, component or VGA.

Using the computer, and watching MCE video at the same time has it's problems, particularly if you want full screen on the TV.

The specifics are dependent on your computer's graphics card.

You haven't mentioned where your MCE video will come from.

If you want to use MCE as a DVR, you will have to hook-up the cable box to the computer with a tuner card in it and an IR blaster to control the box.

You will not be able to record HD, only SD.

  2. Yes you can, I need you to find what graphics card you have. Check if it has a S-video out or a DVI connector. The are converters for both. If your graphics card can output to a TV then it is definitely possible.
