I want a way to be able to use my TV in place of my monitor. Is there any way of doing this? If so what equipment do I need?

  1. Short answer: Yes

Long answer, yes but you need special cables and to set up your pc and tv to get a proper picture...

  2. Yes, but we would need to know what connectors you have on the back of your TV and on the back of your computer (video card output).  The most common is SVideo but to give you specifics and what cables you would need to purchase we would need the information stated above (easiest way is the make and model of both devices)

  3. Have you tried sellotape, or blue tack?

  4. Yes ,if your TV has a PC input and you have the neccessary output on your computer and connection cable(I have a Sony Bravia and that is PC compatible)

  5. I'm not sure if it is possible to replace it, but you can have a dual-screen affair that is essentially one long screen (the first half is your monitor, the second is the TV).

Assuming you have a bog-standard, basic TV you'll need:

    - PC graphics card with an S-video socket (about £20)

    - S-video cable (about £10)

    - SCART adapter with an S-video socket (£5 - £10)

The tricky bit is that once you plug it in, it comes out in black and white! I've done a bit of research, and you need some bare wire (like the high e string on an electric guitar). Take your SCART adapter, and look at the S-video socket. You should have 4 holes in it (picture halfway down this link page):

Join 1 to 2, and 3 to 4 with two small pieces of bare wire, and then plug the cable into it.

You should now have colour. It works for me, and 2 of my friends. =oD

EDIT: Yep - the SCART adapter plugs into your TV, the graphics card sits in your PC, and the S-video cable links the two. Just remember to ask for parts with S-video sockets. =oD

  6. If you have a cable with TV out, all you need is a proper cable, depending on your TV...

  7. depends what tv only some will connect

  8. Yes, there is, but you need to buy some cables.

You can use this tutorial:  http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer...

  9. some pc graphics card come with a coaxial socket (analogue) - only thing I can think of there
