Is there a way to connect something with a USB cord to a PS2?

I got my dad a golf launchpad for his birthday, but it has a USB cord instead of a controller plug. I tried connecting the cord to the USB slots on the front of the PS2, but no go. On the box, it says the launchpad's PS2 compatable, but I can't find any adaptors remotely close to what I need. Is there an adaptor for it? If so, where can I find it? If not, what else can I do?

i'm pretty sure you need some kind of adapter for the launchpad. I got a couple of links to some adapters. If you have trouble try going to a gamestop, or gamecrazy and asking them about your problem. they should be able to help you out.
