  1. It is a simple math problem you can do in your mind.  Just practice.  I've done for this and for converting metric to English.  You might memorize certain temps, like 0, 10 and 20.  That way you can check your minds math.  When I first started I carried a little card in my wallet that had some of this info.

  2. not unless you are really really good at math

  3. Take Fahrenheit temp. - 32, then divide by 1.8 = C

    Take Celsius temp X 1.8 + 32 = F

  4. (F - 32) x 5 / 9

  5. Well, I think it helps to memorize some temperatures that convert exactly--all the Celsius temperatures that end in 5 will become integral Fahrenheit temperatures

    C     F

    0     32

    5     41

    10   50

    15   59

    20   68

    25   77

    30   86

Then if you know these conversions it's pretty easy to get a good approximation by figuring out the difference from these "standard" temperatures and adjusting up or down accordingly--if you just use 2 degrees C per Fahrenheit that should get you the nearest Celsius degree.

  6. Here's how I do it. Suppose the F temp is 75. First I subtract 32 to get 43. Next  I take the nearest multiple of 9 (in this case 45.) Taking 5/9 of this is easy in your head; you get 25. Finally, the 2-degree F difference between 45 and 43 is pretty close to a 1-degree C difference, so I subtract 1 to get 24 C as the final result.

The trick here is to make the multiplication and division easy by using a nearby number, and then making a final small correction for which 1 C = 2 F is close enough.

    The reverse process works similarly.

  7. A really quick way is to take the Fahrenheit temperature and subtract 32, then take half of it.  You'll be really close, but slightly lower than actual.  The other answer is correct, the the easy way is to subtract 32 and divide by 2.

    Good luck and have fun!!

  8. To get a precise conversion, take the Fahrenheit temperature and subtract 32.   Then multiply that number by 5, then divide by 9.  That may be hard to do if you are not particularly good with multiplying and/or dividing in your head.
