I have Timw Warner Cable, with the regular digital DVR box. I just recently bought an HDTV and want to watch tv in HD. I was told that I have to switch the box to a digital HD-DVR box. I currently have some recordings on the orig. DVR box. When I take the orig box in to trade it for the HD box, how can I transfer the shows over?

  1. Depending on your DVR model, you may have a Network port on the DVR.  If you can connect it to a network and find its IP address, you may be able to connect to that IP address with an FTP client and transfer the DVR content to your PC.  From your PC you could burn a DVD or watch it.  If your New DVR also has a network port, you may be able to reverse the process to push the files to your new DVR.

You can always ask Time Warner if they have any options to transfer your content.  They may be able to do it for you (probably for a fee).
