Is there a way to get software that you create yourself copyrighted without paying money, if you distribute your software for free?

I want to give out free copies of software I make, but I don't want people to copyright it and sell it.

  1. Hiya,

Don't think for free, but you can use www.provemycopyright.com for software and you don't need to pay for each individual file, only for an account which is $99.

  2. The moment you write a book or software, all copyright of that work is yours. Just state in the license that user's only right is to use the software for free and any other rights are still yours, you're done. Check most freeware license for example (not free software with GPL or BSD license)
