Is there a way to deep clean a couch at home?

My daughter has been ill, and she had explosive diarrhea that leaked out of her diaper (sorry about TMI). She was laying down, and it pooled under her and ran down the cushions. We tried cleaning it up, but it still reeks today. Can I clean it at home? Or do I have to hire someone?

  1. Hope your daughter fills fine, some coaches have a zipper for each sitting section if so put the fabrisc in the washer

Otherwise you can try to clean the spot with some cleaning solvents that will kill the some of the droppings like pinesol you may have to clean it more than once to get the smell out if you keep cleaning it with soap and water and a little pinesol the smell will come right out Good Luckl

  2. First, you have to determine what cleaning code has been assigned to your particular fabric. Look on the deck of the sofa, (under the middle seat cushion) for a sticker titled Consumer alert/Cleaning Instructions

There are 4 cleaning codes as follows: S = Dry Clean only; W = water based cleaning; SW = Dry or wet; X = Brush/vacuum only. This is important because you can ruin the sofa by cleaning it improperly.

If water based cleaning is acceptable, then you will need a wet/dry extractor. It is important to extract when cleaning because if you don't pull the bacteria and contaminants out they will stay in the fabric. For f***s you will need to use a solution that is hydrogenated like peroxide or oxy clean. Spray the solution on the fabric and immediately brush using a soft bristle nylon brush (do not over wet) extract, apply second treatment if nec. Spray pure water on to rinse cleaning residue then thoroughly extract. I would rinse it twice.
