Is there a way to do an MRI to see a nerve that is near surgical screws?

  1. Not if it is really close,and it depends on the s***w material. Not all metals are magnetic enough to interfere.

    I know a guy with titanium rods in his lowerleg that had an  MRI done of the knee ... the MRI tech had do do some adjustments to get a clear picture, but it worked.


  2. Unlike what the answerer above said. They do use steel. Surgical steel or more now titanium. Both are metals though.

    Anybody with a metal implant CAN NOT have an MRI for whatever reason.

    A MRI machine is a giant magnet. Think about what magnets do near metals.

    It does the same thing but worse in am MRI machine.

    It is extremely frustrating when an MRI will show up any nerve problems in your body, saving you a lot on tests, meds and stress for time and trouble. Not to mention pain.

    I have the same problem that I have a titanium stell implant, a slipped disc, 2 now, and sciatica caused by these. I can not and never will be able to have an MRI.
