The best way would be to join a local APA or TAP league team. You alternate playing between your home site and the sites of other teams. It's a great way to meet new people. while some of the people playing are couples there are single people playing and trying to meet new friends like you. Your skill level does not matter because of the handicap system they have in place. You can be helpfull to a team regardless of how good you are. Next time you are in your poolhall or a local bar ask people about local teams and how to join. It cost twenty doallars a year for membership,and about six dollars per night when you play.
