Is there a way to find out if a photo has been posted on the internet else where.?

I've seen a photo before and someone is claiming that it them and I've seen it before but it was a long time ago and don't know where I've seen it

The only way I know of it trying a few different searches on Google Image search, Flickr, DeviantArt or other image sites.  

* Search for the picture title:  If it's "Alice.jpg" type that in and browse the results to see if you find it.

* Search by keywords in the pic.  Brown hair, woman, blue eyes, whatever you can see in the picture, add some of those keywords in and see if the same image comes up.

It could be quite time consuming, of course.  If you think she's sending you a fake pic, ask for more pictures of them.  That might help you recognize the site you've seen them on, or it may prove that they are really who they say they are :)
