  1. The solution I use is the Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone model KX-TG9333.

This phone can be programmed to Call Block specific phone numbers that you don't want to be bothered by. Block up to 20 separate numbers.

*** It also has a "Night Mode" that prevents the phone from ringing during late night hours. Just program in the times you don't want to be disturbed while sleeping. This will keep anyone from calling you at night when you are sleeping.***

I think it is great that phone manufacturers are building these features into phones. Now we don't have to pay the phone company more money just to block annoying phone

But if you want to skip the answering machine, then go for the KX-TG9313, which is a little cheaper.

And if you still want Call Block and Night Mode, but want to keep the price down to a minimum, then you may want to try the KX-TG9361B model, which is just a singe handset unit and no answering machine:

  2. no...you can not find out who called you!

  3. nope!

"private calls" do not include caller ID data, so there is no way to screen these calls using phone hardware that searches on the caller ID or CNAM.

You can buy phones that have built in timers that do not ring during the set times.

If you feel threatened, call your telco and make a report that you have been getting hang-up's in the middle of the night and you are very concerned.

  4. If it occurs often and you feel threatened, you may want to ask your phone company to trace the call.  I believe some phone companies charge extra for this.

    Good luck!

  5. Depending on what you mean by calling, you might be able to find out. If you mean calling and threatening you, you can call the operator and call the police. If by calling, you mean ringing you and hanging up when you answer it, you can ask your operator for the number. If not, you can ask them for details. Here, (if I remember correctly), if someone calls at least ten times with answering, we can call the operator and get something done about it. Or something like that. I hope that helped. Make sure you ask your operator, as they'd know more. And since you're in a different area, there might be different things you can do! Good luck!
