So I had an accident yesterday and me and the other driver exchanged information. I called him for 2 days but he didn't pick up the phone. I got his insurance policy number but I didn't write down the insurance company name. Is there anyway to find it out? Please help.

Policy number: 016-713-598-00

in California

Thanks.

  2. Not possible, sorry.  Different companies use different information.

You're better off putting in a police report, and giving them his plate number.

Keep in mind, it's highly possible he just made that number up, and might not have any in force insurance at all.

Easiest thing to do, is put the claim through YOUR insurance, and let them chase after him.

  3. No, every insurance company uses different alphanumeric policy numbers.  If you have the plate number, try calling the police department, and let them know you need the insurance company for the person you were involved in the accident with.  They MAY provide you with this info.  If not, report the claim to your insurance company as a records only loss.  They can run the plate number and provide you with the insurance info.
