  1. I did the same thing on a brand new lime green carpet- only down a week. Here's what I did to fix it and nobody would ever know that the stain was there. Cut some of the fibers from an area that doesn't show much (not the bleached part) so that you can match the color. Take the fibers to the automotive section of your favorite auto store or department store. Match it to a can of spray paint as close as you can get to the color. It doesn't matter if you get either gloss or flat paint as long as the color matches. Mask off the areas around the stain because you do not want to get paint on your walls or woodwork. Lay down newspapers about a foot away from the stain, but all around it and lots of them. Now here is the key. You are NOT going to spray the spot directly, but rather let the spray fall gently onto the spotted area.It will wick down into the fibers. It may take several very light coats to completely cover the stain. If you very sparingly apply the paint your carpet will stay soft. Work out away from the stain in order to blend the new color gently into the old. Works best on a plush single color carpet. Don't let anybody walk on it until it is completely dry. This really worked for me and besides you really can't make it look worse. Good luck

  2. Get them dyed. Here is an example of a dyeing company in Colorado.

They should be able to match color closely for just the spots or you can do the whole room.

You can look up "carpet dyer" at http://www.dexknows.com to find someone local. Or look in your local yellow pages. If you can't find anyone try asking local carpet cleaning companies.

OR YOU CAN have the carpet cut out where it is stained and a new patch put in. If you don't have the same they can pull a piece from a closet and swap it with the stained piece. Just keep in mind that carpet fades from sunlight, wears and may not match as good as dyeing.
