Is there a way to get Microsoft Word FREE?

I definitely not going to pay more than 100 bucks for it. I am just wondering if I can get it for free, even the older versions are fine as long as I can edit/save and red any word document.

  1. Try openoffice.org

  2. Get a free Office Suite at http://openoffice.org

It's free, contains no Malware, and it contains everything Microsoft Office has but worded differently. (it's called Writer instead of Word)

  3. Unless you illegally download it.  Which is not wise as your IP address would be logged and open to class action lawsuits.  (Though many downloaders appear to use Peer Gaurdian and MUTE with Anomyous Surfing programs in an effort to prevent detection.)

If you go to college you can get word for cheap.

Such as JourneyED.com whish is currently advertising Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Access, InfoPath, Outlook, and Communicator for:

    $84.98

You must be a college student to qualify.  If you are not, find a college student willing to buy it for you under their name.  If worse come to worse you can try ebay.  Old versions cannot read docx files.  So make  sure the files are saved in compatibility modes for older versions ie doc.

  4. If you really want Microsoft Word, you could try finding older versions on www.ebay.com or you could try and finding it at a second hand store such as Goodwill, Salvation Army or similar venues (Garage Sales). It could take time but the ebay thing is probably best since the older versions don't go for a lot.

  5. no.  however, http://www.openoffice.org is a free office suite that opens, reads, and saves in the MS word doc format... as well as lots of others.

Plus... you get the equivalent of MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Access, and more.  It is all free, it will always be free, and you don't even have to register it if you don't want to.
