Is there a way to get around playing Barre Chords?

i haven't yet mastered the barre chord and i was wondering if there was a way to make it sound like a barre chord without a capo

  2. Yes. It's a little tricky to write without showing, but here goes.

    For root 6 barre chords - those that have the root note on the low E string - take your first finger and cover the high e - B strings, then use your remaining fingers to create the E chordshape. You are playing the E shape barre without actually barring it.

    For root 5, you can make a relatively authentic sounding barre with only two fingers:

    Take your first finger and play the root, then your second finger stretches across the d,g,and b strings, playing the rest of the notes required for the chord.

    Once you get the hang of these methods, you'll eventually be able to barre, it's just natural progression.
