Is there a way to get insurance on a person who has a permit for driving cars?

I am a new driver and I have friends who say I can drive their cars but only if I have some sort of insurance. So I need insurance for a permited driver.

Are you in the USA? If so, in all states (except possibly California) insurance follows the "owner" not the driver. It is unlikely, through any personal auto policy I am aware of, that you will get coverage as a non-owner.

you would be covered under their insurance if they gave you permission to drive their cars, as long as you do not live with them.  if you live in a household where no one owns a car, you can take out a non owners policy.
