Question:

Is there a way to get my grandfather's WWII medals

My grandfather served in the Army in the Aleutian Islands during the war and earned quite a few medals. He was not very sentimental, and refused to pick them up. My father has always wanted them though, and I was wondering if there was a way to actually get them now.

  1. I am sure if you contact the Veteran's Administration they will be able to tell you the procedure.

  2. First, look up your local vet. rept. He should be in your yellow pages or under county business. He can get our grandfather's DD214 from the gov. and apply for his metals.Work with him. It's slow business, but be persistent.Good luck.
