Is there a way to get my green projects paid for before I do them?

I'd love to "Green" my home more, with things like daylighting, geothermal heat-pump, wind turbine(s), gray-water system, etc.

With 4 kids I fell it's important to leave them a better world, but I can not afford to do this projects, is there a way to have them paid for before I do them? (Besides with something like CitizenRe, which sounds like it's turning into more and more of a farce?)

As always, thanks in advance.

  1. Dear Sir,

There are obstacles set before us in our lifetime that one must overcome. I am developing two Green corporations and one non profit organization out of pocket. I am not rich by any means and live day to day for the sake of contributing in some small manner to the betterment of mankind and hopefully I will have an impact on the future. Any action that  one can perform to help reduce emissions is a step in the right direction.

Live the three Rs life style in the interim, set an example for your children and strive to be a caring human being and the rest will follow. I am well aware of the financial constraints of life and being able to afford to modify ones dwelling. Good luck in your endeavors and may Mother Earth bless your actions.

  2. And why should anyone tax dollar pay for your personal residence? Its like anything else in life if you want it you pay for it otherwise you are just talking.Plan ahead if you do one project in 5 years its paid for ,just like your new car.Think of it like that you already have it.

  3. Sure, sell carbon credits to Al Gore and other big wigs that aren't living green.

  4. This matter of having everyone waiting for someone else to pick up the cost before we do the right thing is going to sink the project. The talk of having government get involved to give us extra incentives has just had the opposite effect.

I built my own solar heated home in 1979, no government assistance. The house cost less than most houses that are the cheapest on the market, despite being solar heated.

At the time people were talking about maybe some day getting government grants. it has remained just talk.Had I waited that 28 years, the cost of heating alone would have been greater than the whole cost of the house, not just the solar heating.

(My non-land cost for this house did come in just under $20,000 in 1979. Back then I might have cut that in half but for municipal regulations.)

  5. Here's a green project that will benefit your environment.

"Common indoor plants may provide a valuable weapon in the fight against rising levels of indoor air pollution. Those plants in your office or home are not only decorative, but NASA scientists are finding them to be surprisingly useful in absorbing potentially harmful gases and cleaning the air inside modern buildings." - NASA's Clean Air Plant Study"

You might turn this idea into a business so you can "Green" the rest of your house.

  6. try to write an article, about the 'green studies'..., PLEASE....
