My husband signed a 6 year Army reserve contract, he has served 4, with one of those years deployed overseas. He went on IRR status to do a civilian job and now has 2 years left on his contract. We want out. Is there is an honorable or general way to do so... please advise.

Thank you.

  1. Just finish the 2 yrs in the IRR, it's unlikely he will get recalled... it happens, but if he does, he could try to do something then.... if he does it now, it is likely he would have to go back on Drill Status, until issue is resolved. As far as it being Honorable, other than just waiting till it's over, the other options are left to interpretation. Finish the 2, that is unquestionably Honorable.

  2. army life isn't that bad. why do you guys want out so bad? he did know what he was getting into when he signed the bottom line... no offense, he needs to be a man and suck it up.

  3. He should just do his time. I don't see what he is doing that is so crushing from what you posted that he MUST get out other that you just WANT out. Well, if he just does his time, then he gets out honorable without cutting corners and no shame. I mean...IRR? Come on.

Why isn't he posting this request?

  4. Not unless he has some legit medical problem. If they allowed this type of request, the army would be a half strength b/c EVERYONE would be getting out. He signed a contract and he has to fulfill his commitment.

  5. Nope, but hey he's in the IRR anyways and even when his contract is voided they can still stop loss him during times of war. The only way out honorably is if he were for some reason incapable of performing his duties. Only way out is a medical discharge. He's so close why try and ruin it now.

  6. He could go up to his CO (if it is a guy), l**k his face, and ask if he wants to see his pink thong.  Have him start talking with a lisp.

Seriously, though, unless you can find something seriously medically wrong, then no, no outs.
