Is there a way to get rid of centipedes?

I keep seeing centipedes in my bathroom. I know this may sound pathetic, but I'm absolutely terrified of them. It usually takes me a couple of days to recover every time I see one.

Is there a way to get rid of them? I know they don't die easily, but if there's even a way of preventing them from crawling up the pipes?

  1. Hello there, I think I know what your talking about.  When that happens to me I pour bleach down my drains. Both the sink and tub drains this seems to work.  Hope it works for you.:)

  2. Things You’ll Need:

    Pesticides

    Insecticides

    Sticky traps or bug traps

    Exterminator

    Dehumidifier

    Step1

Spray centipedes with bug spray or smash them with your shoe or other hard object. Because they have many legs, centipedes can move quickly so you might not have enough time to smash them. If you hit and miss, the centipede will most likely run, which will make it harder to catch so try to get a good enough aim to make contact on your first try.

    Step2

Call an exterminator. Exterminators will spray your home to get rid of bugs and insects. An exterminator can put insecticides in areas where they believe centipedes may be hiding in order to get rid of them. In addition to spray insecticides, there are also powder ones that work just as well.

    Step3

Use pesticides to get rid of centipedes. Boric acid is a good pesticide for getting rid of the intruders, and you can also purchase natural fog or spray pesticides. Natural pesticides will not cause harm to any people or pets you have in your home. Not only will this get rid of centipedes, but it will also get rid of the bugs and insects they feed on.

    Step4

Keep your home free from excess moisture. Centipedes need a moist environment in order to live and thrive, so make sure your home in dry by using dehumidifiers and cleaning out damp and moist areas such as bathrooms, attics, closets and basements.

    Step5

Put down sticky traps. Sticky traps are not just good for catching mice. They are also good for catching bugs and insects which crawl on them and get stuck. In addition to sticky traps, use other types of insect traps that can trap the insects inside of them once they crawl in. Place the traps along the corners or edges of the walls.

    Step6

Eliminate possible hiding places and entrance points. Centipedes will hide in plants and ivy growing along the side of your home, boxes in the basement or attic, and firewood or compost heaps. Sealing off entrance points such as cracks in the walls, spaces around windows and doors and closing off drains will prevent centipedes from getting into your home.
