Both of my parents have it and since both of my parents have it, obviously I don't. So I thought why not learn more about it. So what exactly is diabetes and is there a way to get rid of it?

  1. Hi, i am diabetic and theres no way of getting rid. At the moment they are trying to make a cure for it. Its a hereditary thing- my grandad has it and it runs in my family- so if it runs in your family then you are most likely to be at risk-but not always! Diabetes is when your pancreas stops producing insulin- a hormone to control blood sugar levels. Hope i help lol :)

  2. Insulin needs movement. that is why it is critical for a diabetic to exercise. it alsohelps in preventing it. so start walking!

  3. my dad has type tow diabetes.there are two types actually.anyway from what i had to learn about it i found out once you have it it doesn't get better it gets worse.(sorry if i refer to my dad a lot in here) my dad wil eventually be blind if it doesnt kill him before that.the thing about diabetes is it can be controled which is always good.when you have the desess you have high risk for getting sick alot more...and i mean alot more.from diabetes my dad got gout.which is naother desess.to fully answer you question just google diabetes and see what you get.

  4. If you have type 1 diabetes you can't get rid of it, Type 2 diabetes can occur in people who are overweight and it is possible to recover from type 2 by losing weight and getting healthy . Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not make or properly use a hormone called insulin. Insulin converts sugar and starches into energy. Diabetes can cause blindness,  makes you more vulnerable to heart diseases as well as kidney diseases, and nerve and blood vessal damage.

  5. You can demand diabetes to go!

  6. It depends on if they have type one or type two diabetes.

    Type one: hereditary

your pancreas shuts down and stops the delivery of insulin.

Insulin: a key that lets sugar into your bloodstream.

if you have too much insulin, you have too much sugar going into your bloodstream, which drops your bloodsugars so you need to eat more.

if you have too little insulin, you don't have enough sugar going into your bloodstream, which raises your bloodsugars and you need more insulin.

Once in a while, such as my case, type one diabetes isn't hereditary and it just pops up along the way.

    Type Two diabetes: On-set

It mainly happens in overweight people and what basically happens is when you give your body too much sugar too many times, your pancreas can't handle it all and decides to go on vacation, but isn't totally gone. It can be monitored through diet and exercise normally. Type one is monitored with needles and blood tests. Type Two diabetes CAN become less sever over time if you stick to the regiment the doctor puts you on and you can gain control back.

The fact is that type 2 diabetes is almost completely preventable. Doctor's say eat less, eat better and exercise. Your diabetes risk can be reduced or controlled by diet in some cases. This will largely depend on your body's ability to still make insulin and to be able to use it correctly. Only your doctor will be able to tell you exactly, and blood tests will be needed to do this.

  8. Diabetes either type is Chronic meaning you will always have it no matter what.  Type 2 which is more commonly diagnosed during adult years is technically non insulin dependent but a lot of type 2's do use it if their Dr recommends it for better control.

While you cannot rid yourself of the condition, you can control it with proper diet, exercise and medication either oral or injections.

One of the popular assumptions out there says if you are overweight, you will probably get it.  While weight is a risk factor like genetics, the cause is really the decreased production of insulin in your pancreas or your body becoming resistant to insulin.

Since both your parents do have it, your chances are increased but no guarantee.  I am the 1st person in my family to get it.

Check out diabetes.org as well as there is a ton of info and better yet, talk to your parents about in more detail as it is one of those conditions where you constantly can learn.

Good luck to you and to your family

  9. Well for one, since BOTH of your parents have it, I'm not sure why you think it's obvious that you don't...

It is known to be hereditary.  Diabetes is a condition where your body cannot process sugars it injests.  This is due to low insulin production.  Insulin helps process the sugars.  Without your body doing it, eating what should be a normal amount of sugar can lead to dangerously high amounts in your blood, which among other things can cause blindness, limb-death, and comas.  Artificial insulin has to be injected to deal with the sugar you ingest.

Ask your parents, they're living with it daily.
