  1. People that concentrate on your accent are idiots.  Ignore them.

Your accent is part of who you are.

I think accents in general are charming.

  2. . It depends on your age.

If you're over maybe 25 before picking up English, you're stuck with the accent.

And that should NOT be a problem.

But there are Speech Therapists out there who can 'neutralize' most speech patterns. It takes a LOT of practice, >>  http://yourvoicecoach.com/  << .

  3. Find yourself a good voice coach they will have you speaking with any accent or lack of in no time

  4. It's psychological.   You have to have a certain mindset.   Be like an actor.   Pick your favorite American actor and pretend to be them; practice "being" the part.   Like Mel Gibson, doctor House, etc.  you'll loose it over time.

Look at the singers that loose their accents when they sing, it's because they are in a different frame of mind then.

    Hope this helps.

  5. The tounge's got to go!

  6. Most of the time when people comment on your accent, they are trying to make friendly playful conversation with you.  Americans are like that - we like to joke and have curious talk a little here and there. It's a subtle happy subconcious overbearing. Don't be so offended by it.  For men, it's s**y, so be a woman and deal with it.  Sometimes on a phone it's hard to understand some things and someone might become frustruated - or you might get frustruated, be patient.  You'll learn which words are more important to pronounce articulately.  I agree with trying to imitate an American actor or someone you consider to speak American english well.
