  1. Your chances of showing up at the pier and getting a cabin are SLIM AND NONE.  All of the cruise lines now require pre-registration of passengers who have booked cruises.  That pre-registration information MUST be completed at least 3 days before the cruise.  Cruise ships, since 9/11, do background checks on passengers, even with the FBI. and the Customs and Immigration officials require a complete passenger list at least an hour before the cruise ship departs.

The old days of being able to get a cruise on the last day are over.

  2. Because of 911, homeland security will tell you that you can no longer show up on cruise day and get on a cruise. Most cruises have to have a passenger list by the last week before the cruise. They prefer you book no later then 2 weeks before, but of course it could be full or all that is left is an inside cabin if that is OK with you.
