  1. If you really want an Australian accent (I can't imagine why), just spend a lot of time watching Australian television.

  2. Only if you learn English from DVDs etc, that have an Aussie accent.

I remember meeting a Spanish lad years ago that spoke very good English but with an American accent because the guy that taught him was of course an American.

  3. Yes it is possible. I can mimic an Australian accent though I've never even been to Australia before.

Some people have a talent for it, other have to work at it. But it definitely is possible.

    Hope this helps! =)

  4. I like the Aussie accent, but when you here a Vietnamese trying to copy it it sounds awful, and they look stupid.

  5. There are many ways to pick up the accent. You can watch more television with channels outsourcing from Australia. Also, every January, the tennis Grand Slam Australian Open comes on. If you go to their web page you can listen to radio broadcasts. If all else fails, you can always go to a vocal coach!!!

  6. when I met my husband for the first time he pretended to be from Australia by using a fake accent.  he was very good at faking accents.

but no, one can't have a real accent, because accents are really called "geographical sounds" that develop when a person learns language from his society, or adopts the sound of his environment in adaptation.

so, it'd have to be fake

  7. do we really have an accent, ive never noticed

  8. watch more Australian movies, listen more Australian radio, speak more with Australian.

  9. Australian accent is based on attitude and culture. If you don't have the two the vocal gymnastics go only so far. Try dragging out vowels, using key phrases and relaxing about the whole thing. Giday is G'daay, how is it going = howz't goin', no worries and she'll be right go a long way. It can be done, I know ethnic people who have lived in Australia sometimes develop it to an extent. Hook up with an aussie, that will help no end.

So to sum up, no, not really.

  10. Australian accent is terrible. How do people understand them? Geeesh!

  11. Yes

If all your hear in your every day life is Australian accents.

Why is this in the Vietnam section?

  12. if u can go to autralia for about 2 to 3 months and u should get it

  13. it probably wont come out as real aussie accent. more like a trying-hard-OZ-accent...

    why would you want that?

  14. sure, i once met a vietnames girl who learned english in germany and she spoke w/ a german accent... i  also know vietnamese  who moved to austraila learned english and speak with an aussie accent . i also know an american who works with astrailians in viet nam and he speaks w/ an   aussie accent. if this is something you want you may try and get yourself a dialect coach as actors do.
